In the US state of Colorado, or rather in its capital Denver, lies Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park, one of the oldest amusement parks in the United States. It has been in continuous operation for over 130 years, ensuring fun for young and old alike from the very beginning. In the early years, the park was more of a zoo and botanical garden, with a concert hall and a cinema, but over the decades it transformed into a theme park with an adjoining water park. After the park's location on 38th Avenue in northwest Denver was no longer adequate, it closed its doors for good at the end of the season in 1994 and reopened in 1995 in the middle of downtown Denver. On its current 26-hectare site, Elitch Gardens offers more than 40 rides, ranging from the classic children's carousel to two water rides, various family rides, six roller coasters and several action-packed rides. One of the roller coaster highlights is the popular wooden roller coaster Twister III: Storm Chaser. This, now the second revamped version, is a crowd favourite, as this type of roller coaster already provided that certain roller coaster feeling as Mr. Twister at the old location. For hot Denver days, the 8-hectare water park offers plenty of opportunities to cool off. In addition to a wave pool, several slides and swimming pools await you here. Elitch Gardens is an integral part of Denver's history and one of the most popular places in Denver for young and old.
