On the main island of the Philippines, the 108,172 square kilometre island of Luzon, where you will also find the capital of the Philippines, Manila, or rather in the Rizal Park there, you will find the Manila Ocean Park since 2008. More than 14,000 marine animals from 277 species from the mostly native Philippine waters as well as from the areas of Southeast Asia can be observed here in the huge seawater aquariums as well as in the underwater tunnels made of acrylic glass, which are about twenty-five metres long. In the aquarium, for example, which stretches over two floors, you can discover various species of sharks and rays. The water needed for the Manila Ocean Park is taken from Manila Bay and before it reaches the marine animals, it goes through various filtering systems to keep the water clear for the visitors. Other animals to be marvelled at in the Manila Ocean Park include various species of jellyfish, the sea lion enclosure, the large penguin enclosure and a bird house where you can primarily observe parrots. During various animal shows, the animals show their skills and their keepers teach you about the different animals and species. One of the highlights of Manila Ocean Park is that you can feed and even stroke different parrot species in the bird house. Manila Ocean Park is open all year round and offers a great animal excursion destination for all animal lovers young and old.
