In the middle of the Georgian capital Tbilisi, Mtatsminda Park was founded by the Soviet government in the 1930s and was one of the top three public parks in the USSR. Perched on a mountain plateau 770 metres above sea level, the park towers over more than 1 million inhabitants as the highest point in the city. It is about 7 kilometres from the city centre to the park, which takes an average of about 15 minutes by car or about 20 minutes by bus. An alternative way to reach the park is to take the funicular railway, built in 1905, from the city centre. Incidentally, the funicular is one of the city's historical sights. The area covers around 18 hectares and the park is open all year round, and admission is free. The park works on the Tivoli principle, where each attraction is paid for individually. The park is divided into three zones: Extreme, Children and Family, with around 60 attractions, playgrounds, video games and a shooting gallery available for visitors. Outstanding - in the truest sense of the word - is the Ferris wheel, which rises 65 metres into the air and offers a fantastic view over the unique picturesque landscape within one turn (about 10-12 minutes). "Mtatsminda Park" is the best place for entertainment and relaxation for the whole family.
