Around 120 kilometers north of Boston on the east coast of the United States of America lies the tranquil town of York in Maine. York's Wild Kingdom, a private zoo and amusement park that has been in operation since 1980, is located just a few steps away from Short Sands Beach. Every year, over 200,000 people visit their favorite zoo and amusement park in the area. Here you can watch animals, play and learn, or take advantage of the rides and fairground favorites. With wild animals from around the world, York's Wild Kingdom is known for its rare species and knowledgeable curators. The park offers a variety of rides for the whole family, a mini golf course and a petting zoo. The Butterfly Kingdom is a beautiful (approximately 500 square meter) exhibit featuring many species of South and Central American butterflies. This exhibition (opened in 2005) has been a must-see for every zoo visitor ever since. A park called York Beach Animal Forest and Amusement Park existed here from 1955.
