The Singapore Oceanarium, formerly known as S.E.A. Aquarium, reopened on 24 July 2025 after extensive renovation and expansion work and is one of the largest and most modern aquariums in Asia. With over 45 million litres of water and more than 100,000 animals from over 800 species, it offers visitors an impressive journey of discovery through the underwater world. The Oceanarium is divided into 22 themed zones that depict different habitats – from shallow coastal waters to colourful coral reefs to the depths of the open ocean. The centrepiece is the Open Ocean tank, whose huge acrylic panel offers a view of manta rays, whale sharks and numerous other fish species. Other highlights include the deep-sea zone ‘Whale Fall & Seamount’ with prehistoric sea creatures and the colourful coral gardens.


The Oceanarium places particular emphasis on education, research and marine conservation. The Research & Learning Centre supports scientific studies, species conservation projects and educational programmes. Sustainability is a top priority: new buildings are energy-efficient Green Mark Platinum buildings with modern environmental technologies. Visitors can enjoy numerous interactive experiences, including touch pools, digital displays, workshops and behind-the-scenes tours.


For families, there are offerings such as the Pier Adventure or hands-on programmes for children, complemented by cafés and souvenir shops. The Singapore Oceanarium combines spectacular insights into the oceans with the aim of promoting awareness of their protection and is now considered one of Singapore's most important attractions.
