The Reiterlesmarkt in Rothenburg ob der Tauber immerses the medieval streets in a winter wonderland straight out of an old fairy tale. When the lights shine on the half-timbered houses and the cobblestones sparkle, the scent of roasted almonds, spicy mulled wine, and freshly baked snowballs fills the air.

Between the historic walls are lovingly decorated stalls offering handmade treasures and winter delicacies. Hovering above it all is the mysterious figure of the “Reiterle” – once feared, now a friendly messenger of Advent joy. His solemn entrance by lantern light makes even adults feel like children again for a moment.
