During Advent, Dortmund's Christmas market transforms the center of the Ruhr region into a sparkling winter wonderland and is one of the largest markets in Europe. Its unmistakable landmark is the famous largest Christmas tree in the world. It forms the majestic centerpiece of the festivities on Hansaplatz.

This tree, artfully assembled from numerous spruce trees and crowned by a trumpeting angel, shines brightly thanks to thousands of lights. A short daily light show makes it shine with a special glow. All around and on the spacious, interconnected squares of the city center, the rows of stalls invite visitors to take a leisurely stroll.

The market presents itself as a sea of lovingly decorated wooden huts offering everything from traditional handicrafts to culinary delights – from hot mulled wine and fragrant treats to hearty meals. High above the hustle and bustle, visitors can enjoy a unique view of the festively illuminated city from a large Ferris wheel. Dortmund's Christmas city is an experience for all the senses that awakens the anticipation of the holidays in a special way.
