Der Wolf und die 7 Geislein

Der Wolf und die 7 Geislein
Once upon a time there was a goat and her seven little goats. When her mother left the house and the little goats stayed home alone, she forbade them to let anyone into the house while she was away. After she has gone, the wicked wolf comes by and asks to be let in. However, the little goats recognise from the harsh voice that it is the wolf and not their mother who is at the door and do not let him in. The wolf then eats chalk to make his voice softer and returns to the goats' house. However, as the wolf puts his black paw on the windowsill, the little goats recognise the attempt at deception and do not let him in. For the third attempt, the wolf has the baker spread dough on his foot and then forces the miller to dust it with flour. He succeeds in deceiving the little goats, who then open the door. The wicked wolf storms in and eats six of the seven goats, one of whom manages to hide in the grandfather clock. When the mother returns home, the little goat slips out of its hiding place and tells of the attack and the eaten siblings. The wolf is still lying sleepily in the meadow in front of the house, whereupon Mother Goat rushes back into the house and fetches her scissors and sewing kit. She uses the scissors to open the wolf's belly, and it turns out that all the little goats are still alive and can emerge from the belly.
