Bosnia and Herzegovina is a federal state in south-east Europe. It consists geographically of the region of Bosnia in the north - which takes up around 80 percent of the national territory - and the smaller region of Herzegovina in the south and became independent from Yugoslavia on 1 March 1992. The capital Sarajevo extends in a west-east direction in the Sarajevo Plain in the middle of the Dinaric Mountains and the Miljacka River flows through the city. The Sarajevo Plain is framed by the Bjelašnica and Igman mountains in the south-west and the Jahorina and Trebević mountains in the south-east. While the centre is around 511 metres above sea level, the mountains are up to 2000 metres high. Less than a handful of kilometres south of the centre is the alpine adventure world Sunnyland on Mount Trebević. An Alpine Coaster takes you downhill at speeds of up to 40 km/h. Sunnyland also has indoor and outdoor playgrounds, a restaurant and cafés as well as a climbing park.
