The Papenburg August Market is a traditional folk festival that is one of the largest funfairs in the Emsland region and has a history dating back over 300 years. It is an integral part of the annual calendar of events in Papenburg.

The festival

Since 1962, the folk festival has been held on the fairground at the ESC site. Annually changing rides and attractions provide variety, and the festival hall is there every year. There, changing bands provide the necessary atmosphere every day.

Once a year, there is a shooting atmosphere in the middle of the city on the Kennedylaan. The street is transformed into the temporary amusement park Park Hilaria. In addition to many attractions, there are also stages for live performances or cosy areas
