The Kalte Markt traditionally takes place at the beginning/middle of November. The original cattle fair was first mentioned in documents in the 12th century. In the meantime, it has developed into a large local festival with more than 100,000 visitors.

Twice a year, the Erfurt Folk Festival takes place on the Domplatz. In April as the "Erfurter Altstattfrühling" and in October as the "Erfurter Oktoberfest". Both festivals are among the largest in Thuringia.
