In 1829, the first Corpus Christi fair was held in Sterkrade. The small, contemplative market (six to eight traders) has developed into one of the largest city centre and street fairs in Germany. The festival now attracts over 1 million visitors a year.

The Fleckenmarkt once again offers visitors a colourful mix of stalls, games, fairground rides, cosy beer gardens and food stalls. For young and old alike, everything is available to provide visitors to the Fleckenmarkt with fun and relaxation.
